Cynthia & Bugsy
Cynthia Ward Walker, a writer and twenty year resident of the Hollywood Hills with her husband, screenwriter
David Sheffield, rediscovered her inner cowgirl at Sunset Ranch riding rental horse Glide, "a good ol' boy."
Cynthia grew up in Mississippi on a horse and cattle ranch where she rode through the deep piney woods and open
green fields of Reklaw Ranch, her family home. Her father, Guy Morrison Walker II, retired paint horse breeder,
served as President of the American Paint Horse Association. Cynthia has just inherited the last filly from her
father’s line of Paints. Born on Mardi Gras weekend, “Reklaw’s Mardi Gras” is out of Reklaw’s Charm who comes
out of the lineage of the famous quarter horse Impressive and the equally famous thoroughbred stallion, Three Bars.
On Ash Wednesday of 2003, Cynthia captured on film
the beauty of this newborn filly with her mother,
Reklaw's Charm. On Valentine's Day of 2004 Mardi
Gras arrived in Hollywood after crossing the country
via Equine Ground Transportation. The Hollywood Dolls
have embraced "Mardi" to nourish and train and will
begin showing her this year as a yearling.
Cynthia is now riding Bugsy, a twenty-year old
blue-eyed black beauty who served loyally in the
rental string at Sunset Ranch, and is now in his own
private stall across from his friend Diablo, another
successful rescue by the Hollywood Dolls Horse Club.
Bugsy spends many of his Saturdays with Diablo giving
rides to youngsters who appreciate his gentle nature.
