Dylan
2005
Our new friend Dylan has, as evidenced by his scars and what little we know about his history, led quite a difficult life. Looking down at his front left legs, you can see two rows of little white spots on either side of his cannon bone. These scars were the result of a procedure called pin firing, which involves the insertion of hot pins into the front of the shin. It's meant to speed the healing process from an injury such as a bowed tendon or bucked shin, but there is no medical evidence than it actually does anything but cause undue pain and stress to the horse.

When we came upon Dylan he'd recently been abandoned by his owner, and had sustained an injury which was worsening daily and becoming very difficult and expensive to treat as he waited for professional medical care.

The Hollywood Dolls then proudly rescued Dylan and immediately brought in Dr. Bradley Perdue, D.V.M., one of the top equine veterinarians in Southern California.

Dylan was one week, if not days, from death, due to a severe staph infection. The Hollywood Dolls Horse club was able to save this magical 23 year old thoroughbred gelding, get him the emergency medical attention that he needed. Dylan will, circumstances prevailing, be available for adoption in Spring of 2006.

Dylan is very well trained and still has many good years left as a pleasure horse. With his endearing personality and gentle, loving demeanor, he would be a wonderful companion for child and adult alike. Contact the Hollywood Dolls if you would like to arrange to meet our newest rescue, or click the button below if you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, 100% of which goes to Dylan for his medical and boarding costs.
