Saddle Up For St. Jude 2006!
Once again, our CFO, Event Coordinator, and Fearless Leader -- Miss Erin Bush -- had led the Dolls in their second year of hosting the incredible event known as "Saddle Up For St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The 10 Mile Ride-a-Thon began on the Burbank Equestrian Center side of Griffith Park, at the Martinez Arena, and went all the way up to the "hey, I can see my house from here!" peak of Mt. Hollywood.
Over 60 people from all over Southern California participated, trailering in from places like Ventura, Malibu, Norco, and many points beyond and between. All riders came from their respective points of origin with one ultimate goal: to help save the lives of children worldwide, with their horses along to help carry the weight.
The Hollywood Dolls Horse Club partnered for the first time with St. Jude's Children's Hospital on the premier Saddle Up event, which raised over $6000 for the hospital. This year we called in the help of a few more friends, including Broken Horn, Chick's, Da Moor's Feed & Tack, Circle F Feed & Tack Dominion Saddlery, East Valley Feed & Tack, The Horse Mart, Valley Vet Supply, Wild Horse Feathers, and Wahl Clippers all contributed horse goodies for our raffle, as did Ivy Hill - Cinram, Davis Manufacturing, Gloves in a Bottle, Oster Direct, Professional's Choice, Breyer Animal Creations, and Lone Star. Our buddy Andy Gump contributed to the general comfort of our guests, and Western Bagel and California Pizza Kitchen contributed to our bellies with donation a lot of good food. Also, we've got friends in high places over there at Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and Six Flags, who graciously gave us the hook-up. For the publicity, making sure this event was heard about, we'd like to thank KZLA -- Los Angeles and Orange County's #1 Country Music Station, and the stars of Creative Juice from the DIY TV Network for stopping by and helping us out with this event. In the print world, we'd like to thank the Equestrian News, the Pacific Coast Journal, Willow Bend Publishing, and Trafalgar Square Publishing.
Most of all, we'd like to thank the Dolls and the Folks who came out to ride with us; when it all comes down to it, you're the ones who made this event a success. It's all just a little bit more proof that when a few people get together with love in their hearts, its not all that hard to make good things happen.
In true Hollywood Dolls Style, we've got pictures!!
